Suiwah Corporation Bhd – listed on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in 1995 and transferred to the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in year 2005; Chaired by Penang’s former Chief Minister Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Lim Chong Eu, with Dato’ Hwang Thean Long as the Managing Director.
The Group’s core business segment comprises a massive retail chain it’s beginning back to 1961 when it opened its first neighbourhood general merchant in Air Itam. Since then, we have expanded to include Sunshine Square, a pioneer departmental store & supermarket in Bayan Baru, Sunshine Farlim Hypermarket, Sunshine Jelutong & soon Sunshine Taman Lip Sin.
The group also has a chain of convenient stores in multi-national companies like Kobe, Agilent and ASE to better serve the community.
The Group’s other ventures include our former Jawi plantation which used to supply fresh, pesticide-free produce to our retail chain stores, that has been transformed into Sunshine Residential Jawi, an exclusive new development featuring quality homes and shop lots which were fully sold.
QDOS, a pioneer and fully integrated manufacturer of Flexible Printed Circuits that was established in 1994, with highly automated, state-of-the-art facilities in Penang, Malaysia; Bangalore, India; and Xiamen, China. A recipient of the Enterprise 50 Award in 2003 & 2004, and the top winner in 2005, the internationally certified company has also garnered several Quality Awards, including the ISO 9001 and TS16949 and is working towards obtaining ISO14000 certification. Top multinational companies clients are Motorola and many more.
Subsequently, a joint-venture with the renowned Valdel Group marks our involvement in oil and gas activities in India.
In the year 1961, the journey of Suiwah started as a mini market called Swee Wah Mini Market at Air Itam, Penang. The mini market provided daily necessities and consumer goods to the local population of Air Itam and its neighboring areas. In the year 1970 this company have expanded their mini market business extensively in Penang.

Sunshine Square
Sunshine Square located in the heart of Bayan Baru Township was open in the year 1993. It underwent upgrading exercise every 2 years and recently Brand New Sunshine Square was unveiled on July 2005. The shopping complex is currently 100% occupied. It comprises Supermarket ( basement & new wing ), Beauty Hall ( Level 1 ) , Her World ( Level 2 ), His World ( Level 3 ), Kids Zone and Gifts department ( Level 4 )

Sunshine Farlim
Sunshine Farlim Hypermarket was established on 11 November 1999 of which is another jewel in Suiwah Group’s crown. Sunshine Farlim Hypermarket holds the credit to be the biggest wholly Malaysian owned hypermarket in Penang as at date. It certainly lives up to the tag line of “a hypermarket that meet all the needs” with varieties of merchandise assortment. Build on a 4 hectare piece of land, Sunshine Farlim boost a strategic location in the township and the customers certainly do not face parking space problems as 600 parking lots are strategically carved out of the convenience of our loyal shoppers.

Sunshine Jelutong
Sunshine Jelutong is another retail outlet opened by Suiwah Group’s. It was officially opened on 23rd March 2002. It’s located within Vantage Point complex at Jalan Lenggong. The outlet caters mainly to needs of medium range income population in the vicinity.

Suiwah Air Itam
This was the first outlet started by the late Mr. Hwang Siong Wah in the year 1961 with its initial name known as Swee Wah Mini Market. This outlet serve as a sundries shop to the entire community around till today, Suiwah Air Itam still serve its loyal customers by catering variety of sundries, food stuff & basic toiletries needs.
